Raylius
Brad Raylius Daniel is a singer, songwriter, musician, composer, and author whose musical career is devoted to promoting the recognition of art—and especially music—as the discovery of the unconscious, a powerful means of accessing the healing, creative, and intuitive powers within us.
As Raylius he will soon be releasing his long-awaited 2025 debut solo double double-albums Live the Love (all originals) and its companion Love the Life (all cover songs), which are surprisingly fresh offerings of alternative and neo-psychedelic rock, introducing an exciting new approach to energetic and colorful rock music. These two double albums, started in 2020, are true "solo" works and feature him playing all the instruments. His album All Tied Up, recorded with drummer D.J. Bonebrake and guitarist Stan Whitaker, is scheduled for release in late 2025, and its follow up After the Fall, with Bonebrake and guitarist Steve Schiltz, is expected in spring of 2026.
As The Raylius Experiment he has to date released 9 ambient electronic albums, establishing a new paradigm for rich, long-tone contemplative "electronic tone poems." In these recordings he developed captivating methods of amorphous harmonic development and hypnotic allure of the listener's attention. From the debut album Adventures in a Forest to his iconic Ever Expanding Inner Universe and the triumphant Outer Realms, he has continued to expand the possibilities of organic electronic ambient with symphonic, minimalist ambient, and even avant-garde elements. The newly released Nocturnica—a collection of majestic and heavenly pieces—contains some of his most beautiful and powerful classically-oriented electronic work.
He founded AHUM, the Association for the Holistic Understanding of Music, as a global organization to share and promote the diverse knowledge from various fields of research regarding music's vital and universal role in the development of human cognition, communication and language, culture, and spirituality. His book A Big History of Music tells the biography of music on a "big history" time scale and is packed full of fascinating information that is serving as a cornerstone for AHUM's activities.
In his earliest phase, he composed and performed a number of works for piano, chamber ensembles, and orchestra. He has also composed music for film and continues to write for traditional instruments and performance ensembles.
