The first studio album of The Raylius Experiment, Adventures in a Forest was written and recorded in 1985 at the age of 20, and it set the tone and scope for the introspective music Raylius would create in the following years. Influenced by Steve Roach's Structures from Silence and the work of Brian Eno and Robert Fripp (especially the Fripp & Eno album Evening Star), Raylius determined to embark on creating a full-scale concept album composed entirely by stream of consciousness. Adventures in a Forest also shows clearly that rather than try to fit into an ambient minimalist mold he would allow his music to breathe as freely as needed, yielding modern day electronic tone poems free of preconceived boundaries.
This 2018 version has been remixed and remastered from the original multitrack tapes.
In four movements, Sunrise (tracks 1 - 7), The Storm (track 8), In a Cave (tracks 9-13), and Sunset (tracks 14 and 15)
