From 1993, Outer Realms serves as a triumphant finale to the '80s and '90s series of The Raylius Experiment albums. As with several of the other albums, it can be viewed as an electronic symphony in four movements: the first consisting of "Outer Realms," Parts I and II, the second the two parts of "Deep Space Reverie" (beginning with a long Adagio), the third the two parts of "Inside the Mothership," and the finale "Outer Realms" Parts III - VI (although, as he has explained, the four movement structure was the result of following the flow of music and not from any conscious attempt to create the structure).
"Outer Realms, Part I" tracks the internal progress of a meditation that quickly leads to a stillness of thoughts and the nervous system, a state of thankfulness, the opening up of the heart, and the resultant rush of energy upwards to the brain. The remainder paints pictures of visual, archetypal, and energetic experiences in the theta brainwave state.
This 2018 edition was remixed and remastered from the original multitrack recordings.
